I wrote this for my ancient history class at the start the course. Just thought it'd be worth it to share it here and keep it in my lj.
My Legacy Every being that ever lived on this earth has left a legacy. Whether it is a collection of oil paintings, a scientific formula, or Great-Grandmother Susie's small bakery shop, a legacy is simply something someone left behind.
When I think about the legacy I want to have, the choice is easy. I want to change the world for the better. I want to leave a positive impact on someones life, even if it is just one person. And as I approach the second half of my teen years, the pressure to choose my career path, a large portion of my life journey, continues to grow its presence in my daily life: through education, my parents, and peers. For a long time I have envied those who knew, early from the start, exactly what they wanted and how to accomplish it. Only recently, from all the information I have gathered in my mind, have I developed an idea of what I want to do with my life. That is to become a doctor or a teacher. My plan is to graduate from high levels of education, so to enter the workforce with an advantage over others, and work my way to the top.
I also have dreams of creating a breakthrough invention, and founding a charity that will provide opportunities for those less fortunate than us. I want to be remembered as a person who strived to help anyone and everyone. And I have my whole life to accomplish these dreams. It is not going to be easy, but I am willing to accept the challenge. Someday, I will change the world, and when I have, I will know that my legacy has been set in place.
